The Russian coach Igor Osinkin explained the reasons why Zenit striker Maksim Glushenkov could not be the best player in the Russian Premier League (RPL) last season. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, with the departure of Klaudinho, the quality of play in the team decreased, and Venchel became unmotivated. For this reason, the football of "Zenit" during that period did not allow Glushenkov to fully showcase his best qualities.
The style of play became simplified and the complexity decreased. The coach emphasized that Glushenkov's main advantages on the field are his good connection with the team and his ability to effectively execute short and medium-range passes.
In the 2024-2025 season, he played in 26 matches across all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing 5 assists. According to Transfermarkt, the transfer value of the 25-year-old striker is 14 million euros.
His current contract with Zenit is set to last until 2028.
