The court in Florida has found Tesla partially at fault in a case related to an accident involving its autopilot system and decided to award $200 million in damages. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to TechCrunch.com, the lawsuit pertains to an accident that occurred in 2019, where a Tesla vehicle collided with an obstacle while operating in autopilot mode, resulting in the driver's death.
The court believes that Tesla should bear partial responsibility for not providing sufficient information about the limitations of the autopilot system and failing to fully ensure safety measures. Tesla, however, denied the blame, citing the driver's negligence and improper use of the system.
The court ordered Tesla to pay $8 million to the victim's family and $192 million to the victim himself. This decision is recognized as a legally significant precedent for Tesla's autopilot technology.
This case serves to further increase attention to safety issues in the automotive and artificial intelligence sectors.
