Google was sued for collecting children's personal data through YouTube without parental consent. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In this case, the company paid a $30 million fine and reached a settlement. According to the court case, YouTube attracted children through cartoons and songs, collected their data, and used it for advertising purposes.
It was emphasized that this process was carried out without parental consent. Previously, in 2019, Google was fined $170 million due to similar accusations.
However, parents stated that the company continued to violate the law. According to the court's decision, some accusations against major content creators were dismissed.
Nevertheless, the settlement covers children under 13 who used YouTube from 2013 to 2020. Experts note that parents who joined the lawsuit may receive compensation ranging from $30 to $60 on behalf of their children.
Google made the payment to close the case without admitting the accusations. This incident once again highlighted the importance of protecting children's data on the internet.
