The American technology giant Apple is significantly expanding its iPhone production capacity in India to reduce its dependence on the Chinese market. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This decision has been received with great interest by Apple fans and technology experts, as it aims to reduce geopolitical and economic risks. According to Bloomberg insider Mark Gurman, all four variants of the iPhone 17 model will be manufactured in India.
The expansion of production includes the operation of five factories, one of which consists of new enterprises by Tata Group and Foxconn. Experts believe that within the next two years, Tata enterprises will be able to supply more than half of the iPhone smartphones produced in India.
According to data, from April to July 2025, iPhones worth a total of 7.5 billion dollars were exported from India to the USA and other countries. This figure has doubled compared to the previous fiscal year.
Thus, India has gained an advantage over China in smartphone production for the USA and has become an important leader in the global market. Data from the Canalys analytical platform also confirms this trend.
The main reason for shifting production to India is to reduce risks related to geopolitical tensions and the US import tariff policy. However, China is creating difficulties in technology supply.
For this reason, Foxconn is inviting specialists from Taiwan and Japan instead of Chinese engineers, which is increasing production costs. As a result, Apple's expansion of production in India is not only an important part of its global strategy but also a crucial factor in ensuring stability in iPhone supply for the US and the global market.
