Alphabet's life sciences division Verily has announced the termination of its medical devices program and laid off some employees. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The company's CEO, Steven Gillett, informed employees about this difficult decision in a letter. According to him, Verily has played an important role in developing innovative medical devices worldwide in recent years, but now there is a need to make tough decisions based on a new strategy.
This strategy is focused on developing artificial intelligence and data infrastructure. Alphabet has reduced its workforce several times to cut costs, including continuing this process in the human resources and cloud services departments in February.
The closure of the Verily program aligns with the company's overall plan and serves to increase focus on artificial intelligence in the future. These changes are aimed at enhancing the company's competitiveness and efficiently allocating resources.
