The UK government has recognized Google as a significant market participant. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This decision allows the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to monitor and regulate the company's activities. According to statistics, over 90 percent of search queries in the UK are conducted through Google's search engine.
Google representatives have stated that these regulatory measures may slow down work processes. Nevertheless, the company plans to invest £5 billion, approximately $6.65 billion, in the country.
The CMA may take various measures to open up Google's search engine to competition, which will expand users' options to use other search engines. Additionally, artificial intelligence features will also be under strict control.
These steps are aimed at improving the competitive environment and protecting users' interests.
