A decree has been signed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on additional measures to strengthen seismic safety and effectively organize work in the field of seismology. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This document envisages the early detection of earthquake risks in the country, the creation of safe infrastructure, and the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies in practice. Within the framework of the decree, a system for continuous monitoring of the earthquake resistance of cultural heritage sites and road-transport facilities will be established.
At the same time, important tasks have been set such as digitizing the field of seismic safety, analyzing data with the help of artificial intelligence, and assessing soil stability at construction sites. Starting from January 1, 2026, a radiolocation space monitoring system will be launched along the “A-373” and “M-39” highways and the railways in the adjacent mountainous areas.
This system will continuously monitor the risk of landslides and other natural disasters. Additionally, a system for medium- and long-term forecasting of strong earthquakes using artificial intelligence will be implemented in seismically active areas.
At the initial stage, this system will be introduced experimentally in the city of Tashkent. From March 1, 2026, the earthquake resistance of buildings and structures will be assessed through artificial intelligence analysis.
The main goal of the decree is to advance the early detection of natural disaster consequences and to elevate the level of ensuring citizens’ safety to a new stage. These measures will contribute to further strengthening seismic safety in our country.
