Americans Mass-Uninstall ChatGPT in Protest of OpenAI's Contract

In the United States, a cooperation agreement between the leading artificial intelligence company OpenAI and the country's Department of Defense has sparked strong public discontent. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
After news about this event spread, millions of American users began to mass delete the ChatGPT application from their smartphones. According to technological information sources, the rate of uninstalling the app increased by 295 percent in a single day.
This figure is very high compared to usual, with the daily average rate being 9 percent. Taking advantage of the situation, the Claude program by Anthropic, considered OpenAI's main competitor, reached the peak of popularity.
After Anthropic announced that it would not use its technologies for military purposes, particularly in the creation of surveillance systems or autonomous weapons, the flow of users changed dramatically. As a result, the Claude program rose to the top as the most downloaded app in the mobile app stores in the United States.
According to data provided by analytical platforms, the number of low ratings for the ChatGPT app also increased several times. Specifically, the number of reviews giving the lowest rating rose by 775 percent, while the number of highest ratings nearly halved.
Experts explain this situation by users' opposition to the use of artificial intelligence in military fields and their emphasis on safety and ethical aspects. This process once again demonstrated the interconnection between technology and society.
