Chrome browser update speed doubles

Google has decided to fundamentally change the schedule for software updates of its widely used Chrome web browser worldwide. Zamin.uz reported on this.
Currently, the browser's major and significant updates are released once every four weeks. However, starting from September 2026 and with Chrome version 158, this process will accelerate twofold.
In the future, updates will be released every fifteen days. Foreign news sources report this.
The development team emphasizes that this strategic change is related to the rapid evolution and changing requirements of modern web platforms. More frequent updates will allow users to receive new features, performance-enhancing improvements, and necessary security patches even faster.
Google experts express confidence that smaller but more frequent updates will increase browser stability and simplify the process of finding and fixing errors. The new plan covers both stable and beta channels designed for desktop computer systems, as well as Android and iOS mobile platforms.
At the same time, the Extended Stable channel specially created for enterprises and organizations will remain unchanged and operate on an eight-week cycle. This solution provides system administrators with sufficient time to test and manage new software versions.
For now, Microsoft has not explicitly stated whether it plans similar changes for its Chromium-based Edge browser. However, this news in the technology world is expected to intensify competition in the browser market and further accelerate development pace.
