AI-powered apps are losing subscribers quickly

Artificial intelligence technologies are rapidly becoming popular in the mobile app market today and are being used in many new projects. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
However, these modern tools lag behind simple apps in attracting users for the long term. According to the latest research results presented by RevenueCat, although apps powered by artificial intelligence generate good revenue at the initial stage, subscribers tend to abandon these services faster.
International technology sites have extensively covered this issue. RevenueCat, a company active in subscription management, published interesting and significant data in its 2026 report.
Analysis shows that users of AI-based apps cancel annual subscriptions thirty percent faster than those of regular apps. This conclusion was drawn from an in-depth analysis of over one billion payments and a total revenue of eleven billion dollars.
Currently, less than half of all categories of mobile apps, about seventeen percent, fully utilize artificial intelligence capabilities. Especially in photo and video editing apps, this figure is much higher, with more than six percent equipped with modern technologies.
In gaming, travel, and business sectors, AI integration remains relatively low. Research results prove that the annual retention rate of AI apps is only eleven percent.
In regular apps, this figure is over thirty percent, showing a significant difference. A similar situation is observed with monthly subscriptions, where users frequently switch to other apps.
This situation is explained by the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence technologies and the frequent emergence of new opportunities. People always strive to seek the latest and most advanced technology.
Nevertheless, AI apps also have their unique advantages. They lead simple apps by seven percent in the rate of converting trial users to paid subscriptions.
Additionally, AI apps lead in generating revenue from downloads and monthly profits. However, refund cases are twenty percent more frequent in these apps, which requires attention in developing these projects.
