Artificial intelligence bots will soon surpass humans

Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince emphasized that major changes are taking place on the internet. Zamin.uz reported this.
In his view, by 2027, bots powered by artificial intelligence could account for more volume than online traffic generated by humans. He shared this at the SXSW conference held in Austin.
Prince stated that the rapid development of generative artificial intelligence is changing how people use the internet and increasing the load on digital infrastructure. According to him, AI agents can be far more active than humans.
For example, if a person visits five websites to compare digital cameras, an AI assistant might review thousands of pages across several thousand sites to complete that task. This indicates that bot traffic is no longer just background activity but has become a real source of demand for servers, networks, and websites.
Before the widespread adoption of generative artificial intelligence, bots accounted for approximately 20 percent of internet traffic. This included Google's web crawlers, which held the largest share.
Now, as Prince noted, the constant need of AI systems for data is causing this figure to grow even faster. He emphasized the need for new tools in the industry, specifically temporary sandbox environments where AI agents can safely perform tasks such as planning trips or conducting online queries.
Additionally, Prince warned that this trend will lead to a greater demand for data centers and server capacity. He compared the current sharp growth to the load during the COVID-19 pandemic, when streaming services placed significant pressure on the internet.
TollBit research company also noted that traffic from artificial intelligence bots is growing rapidly, while the number of human visits to websites is declining. This situation is creating new challenges and opportunities for internet infrastructure.
