New «Steam Machine» consoles went on sale with serious technical malfunctions
Steam Machine console enthusiasts, who had long awaited the release of these devices, were met with unexpected technical issues upon market launch, as reported by Zamin.uz.

Early adopters who purchased the hardware are reporting serious hardware failures causing the system to completely shut down. This issue has already gained notoriety on social media under the name "red line of death."

Influential tech publications are spreading awareness about this problematic situation. One active Reddit user was among the first customers to encounter this issue.

According to his account, the console shut down just a few minutes after a software update. A red line appeared on the front panel's indicator light, and the Steam Machine failed to reboot afterward.

The user noted that the system prompted an update after he had played a specific game for five minutes, and upon completion of the process, the console became entirely non-functional. Experts emphasize that the red indicator on the right side of the light panel is not merely a coincidence but a recognized fault signal.

According to the Steam Machine support page, this signal indicates a serious malfunction related to the graphics processing unit—the component responsible for rendering visuals. Other users have reported that no image appears on screen, which is a primary sign of GPU failure.

While various technical solutions are being suggested within the community, experts advise that the most appropriate course of action is to contact the manufacturer’s customer support.

However, due to the limited production volume of Steam Machine consoles and current market scarcity, replacing a defective unit may prove to be a complex and time-consuming process.

This incident is triggering unpleasant memories among gamers of widespread hardware flaws seen in past consoles, where such problems led to mass failures across thousands of units.

Whether the current situation with Steam Machine represents an isolated case or a broader manufacturing defect will likely become clearer in the coming weeks as delivery volumes increase.

It should be noted that official sales of Steam Machine consoles began at the end of June.

Due to limited availability, prices on unofficial markets have surged significantly. On online trading platforms, sellers are asking several times the official retail price for the console.

Purchasing a unit at such inflated prices only to have it fail within minutes is causing users significant financial loss and emotional distress.
