Starting from August 6, 2025, a new procedure for the accounting, identification, and monitoring of animals has been implemented in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to this law, all animals kept by individuals and organizations must be registered and identified mandatorily. This was reported by the official website of the Ministry of Justice, adliya.uz.
The task of monitoring the new procedure has been assigned to the Committee for the Development of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry. The law specifies clear deadlines for the registration of animals.
For example, cattle, sheep, goats, and camels must be registered within 14 days after birth. The deadline for horses is set at 4 months, for pigs at 1 month, and for dogs and cats at 3 months.
If the owner is unable to register within the specified time, an additional 1 month will be granted. Additionally, animals imported into Uzbekistan must also be identified within 21 days.
The main goal of the law is to accurately account for the number of animals, monitor their condition, prevent infectious diseases, and strengthen veterinary control. During the identification process, each animal will be assigned a special number and issued a veterinary passport.
For identification, practices such as marking, tattooing, or tagging, along with the installation of a microchip, will also be implemented. Through the microchip, the animal's health, owner, vaccinations, and other information will be entered into a single database.
Experts emphasize that the implementation of this procedure will resolve many issues. This is because there was a risk of infectious diseases spreading through uncontrolled animals and negatively impacting the ecosystem.
Thus, the law serves to ensure the safety of not only animals but also humans. Source: adliya.uz
