Starting from August 7, 2026, the procedure for the mandatory registration of animals will officially be implemented in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This procedure is established based on the law "On the identification, registration, and monitoring of animals," which was adopted this year and is set to come into full force one year later. According to the law, animal owners—individuals, organizations, and farms—are required to account for all animals in their care.
This procedure is being introduced to strengthen control over animals, improve safety and sanitation requirements. Registration allows for the prevention of animal diseases, restriction of illegal trade, and monitoring the fate of abandoned animals.
The Identification Center under the Committee for Veterinary and Animal Husbandry will manage this process. The center will store all data in an electronic information database in real-time and provide it to the relevant authorities.
Part 2 of Article 12 of the law will come into force on January 1, 2028. It stipulates that animal owners must comply with the following obligations: fulfill the requirements for the identification and registration of animals, timely inform about changes in the number, location, or ownership of animals, and not keep or allow the breeding of unregistered animals.
During the identification process, animals will be fitted with special chips or tags. These technologies help obtain accurate information about animals and their owners, and are also significant in finding lost animals.
The new law increases the responsibility of every citizen who keeps animals and aligns with humanitarian principles. Such systems are necessary to ensure the rights and protection of every creature.
