The first population census in Uzbekistan since independence will begin on January 15, 2026. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to information provided by the Ministry of Justice, the registration process will continue from 00:00 on January 15, 2026, until February 28. During this period, every citizen across the country will be registered either at their place of residence or through a special electronic system.
However, some individuals will not be included in the census. Specifically, citizens who have been outside Uzbekistan for more than one year and children born after the census has started will not be counted.
Additionally, employees of foreign diplomatic missions accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, their family members, and persons with diplomatic immunity will be excluded from the registration. The population census will be conducted based on permanent or temporary place of residence.
Each citizen’s daytime and nighttime residence will be taken into account, covering houses, apartments, and other types of dwellings. Personal circumstances occurring after the census begins, such as moving, marriage, or childbirth, will not be considered.
Interestingly, individuals who pass away after the census has started will be included in the database. This serves to fully and accurately reflect the country’s demographic situation.
This population census holds historical significance for Uzbekistan and will be an important source for planning future state programs. Source: Official information from the Ministry of Justice, one.uz.
