
On October 10, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, participated in the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States held in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At the event, practical cooperation among member states was expanded, and pressing issues of regional importance were discussed. In his speech, the Head of State emphasized that despite uncertainties in global politics and economics, the CIS organization maintains stability and efficiency.
He noted that the Commonwealth has a unique position at a time when the authority of international institutions is declining. Special attention was also paid to ensuring security and stability in the region.
The President stressed the necessity of strengthening cooperation between foreign ministries and special services, highlighting the importance of systematic dialogue. Mirziyoyev also focused on the situation in Afghanistan, stating that it is essential to keep the situation in that country under constant control for regional stability.
He emphasized Uzbekistan’s support for long-term peace and sustainable development in Afghanistan and proposed considering opportunities for jointly implementing large-scale investment and infrastructure projects in this regard. At the conclusion of the meeting, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev supported the continuation of Sergey Lebedev in the position of CIS Secretary-General and congratulated Turkmenistan’s leader Serdar Berdimuhamedov on accepting the chairmanship of the organization.
At the summit, the heads of member states also spoke, and a number of agreements and important decisions were signed on priority areas of cooperation within the CIS framework. This meeting served to further strengthen political, economic, and security relations in the region (source: zamin.uz).
