In recent years, the demand for practical skills has been increasing over theoretical knowledge in Uzbekistan's labor market. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
A survey conducted by the hh.uz job search platform involved more than 100 local companies and organizations. According to the survey results, 47 percent of employers consider practical experience more important than a diploma.
For them, a candidate's work experience, completed projects, and skills acquired in the field are the main criteria. At the same time, 55 percent of participants emphasized that the hiring decision depends on the type of position.
For example, while practical experience is preferred in information technology and engineering fields, a diploma remains a primary requirement in education and law sectors. Employers' attitudes towards specialists who have successfully completed professional development courses without a graduation certificate are also changing.
Thirty-four percent of survey participants stated they are ready to hire such specialists, and 31 percent consider them suitable for entry-level positions. Employers mainly assess candidates' skills through interviews, practical exercises, and test tasks.
Overall, the labor market shows an increasing demand for specialists with practical experience. Additionally, according to the hh.uz report, the average salary in the third quarter of 2025 amounted to 4.36 million soms, which is 20 percent lower compared to the previous year (source: hh.uz).
