During the international conference held within the framework of UNESCO's 43rd session, the history of the city of Samarkand was reassessed. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
As a result of scientific research and archaeological findings, it was established that the city's age is not 2750 years as previously estimated, but more than 3000 years. According to experts, the first urban culture in the Samarkand region was formed at the beginning of the first millennium BC.
Ancient artifacts and written sources found in this area confirm that Samarkand was already one of the important cultural centers of Central Asia at that time. Specialists emphasized that Samarkand holds special significance not only for the region but also for the entire history of humanity.
UNESCO representatives noted that this news will serve as a factor encouraging the preservation of the city's cultural heritage and its deeper study. The conference also highlighted the importance of preserving Samarkand's historical monuments, continuing new archaeological research, and passing on the city's ancient appearance to future generations.
These efforts will serve not only to preserve historical heritage but also to promote cultural tourism.
