
According to preliminary data from the National Statistics Committee, a total of 3.1 million tons of potatoes were grown by all categories of farms in our republic from January to September of this year. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This figure shows steady growth compared to last year. Regional analyses confirmed that Samarkand region holds the leading position in potato cultivation.
In the region, 631,922 tons of potatoes were produced, accounting for nearly one-fifth of the total volume nationwide. Tashkent region ranks second with 320,053 tons, followed by Fergana region in third place with 317,426 tons.
Next in line are Surkhandarya (316,052 tons) and Andijan (306,060 tons) regions. Namangan region produced 298,992 tons, while Bukhara region yielded 278,682 tons of potatoes.
In Kashkadarya, this figure amounted to 168,317 tons. Although the harvest volume in Navoi (83,552 tons), Jizzakh (68,103 tons), and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (66,102 tons) was relatively lower, steady growth is observed.
In Syrdarya region, 60,131 tons of potatoes were grown, and in Khorezm, 140,672 tons. In Tashkent city, potato production is around 429 tons, with the capital's demand mainly met by products brought from other regions.
According to experts, this year’s weather conditions and improvements in the irrigation system positively influenced the high potato yield. Additionally, the use of agro-technologies and new seed varieties helped increase productivity.
