Significant changes are being implemented in the labor sector in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the newly adopted law, the payment for employees' overtime work has been increased. From now on, employees working overtime will be paid at least 1.5 times the regular rate for the first two hours and at least twice the regular rate for any time beyond two hours.
This change was made based on Law No. 1095 adopted on November 11, 2023. The law aims to protect employees' rights, modernize working conditions to meet current standards, and increase citizens' interest in labor.
Additionally, the law includes changes related to expanding the activities of private employment agencies and clearly defining the powers of the Migration Agency. Now, private employment agencies can organize vocational and foreign language training courses for job seekers and involve foreign employers in this process.
Moreover, they have gained the right to manage the interest income from deposit funds themselves. Another important change in the law is the removal of the annual limit on overtime work.
Previously, employees could not work more than 120 hours per year, but this requirement has now been abolished. These changes in the Labor Code are expected to make the relationship between employers and employees more transparent and fair.
Furthermore, another recently adopted law officially guarantees the right of Uzbek citizens to strike. Source: One.uz.
