Duty-free import limits for goods reduced
Duty-free limits for goods brought into Uzbekistan for personal use are being reconsidered. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

This change is the next important step in state policy, and customs regulations are expected to become more convenient and understandable in the future. This process should turn into a simple and logical system rather than a "trial full of difficulties."

Starting from May 1, 2025, a number of new changes will be introduced to duty-free import limits. The limit for goods brought in by air transport has been set at 1000 dollars (previously it was 2000 dollars).

For goods brought in by rail and river transport, the limit has been reduced to 500 dollars (previously it was 1000 dollars). The limit at automobile and pedestrian crossing points remains unchanged at 300 dollars.

A monthly limit of 200 dollars has been set for goods brought in via international courier, whereas previously it was 1000 dollars per quarter. The limit for goods brought in via international mail has remained almost unchanged at 100 dollars.

Additionally, if a citizen has stayed abroad for less than 2 days (for land and rail transport) or less than 3 days (for air transport), duty-free import rules do not apply. This creates additional difficulties for citizens returning from short trips.

There are also restrictions related to household appliances. Equipment such as refrigerators and air conditioners can be brought in duty-free for personal use, but only in limited quantities, i.e., once every 6 months.

Previously, this limit was once a month, but it was later extended to a 6-month period. In the future, these rules are expected to be simplified and made more convenient for the population.

Product categories and limits will be rebalanced, and existing restrictions during customs inspections will be optimized. This will serve to create more convenient and humane conditions for citizens.

Currently, some complexities remain in the system, but the government continues reforms in this direction. In the near future, the rules may become even more convenient and simpler.
