A new regulation will be introduced in Uzbekistan to strengthen tax discipline. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the presidential decree, starting from January 1, 2026, restrictions on electricity payments will be imposed on citizens with tax debts in Namangan region. This regulation applies only to individuals whose property or land tax debt exceeds 1 million soms.
The restriction is aimed not directly at electricity supply but at temporarily suspending the payment option through the billing system. This mechanism is intended to encourage citizens to settle their debts on time.
At the same time, a new module will be launched on the "Open Budget" portal. Through this module, citizens will be able to monitor online the taxes they have paid and how these funds have been used.
In addition, the efficiency of tax authorities' activities will be evaluated through automatic indicators. Another important change will take place from 2026: all taxes received from income earned by renting out real estate will remain entirely in the local budget.
Furthermore, information about tax debts is planned to be automatically displayed soon on the main pages of banks and payment applications. These changes are aimed at increasing tax culture in the country and strengthening local budgets.
