
A special economic zone (SEZ) based on the Japanese model is planned to be established in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This initiative is promoted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and is based on Japanese models and standards. The issue was discussed during a meeting between the head of state Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Japanese business representatives.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Japanese entrepreneurs to actively participate in the processes of modernizing Uzbekistan’s economy, industrialization, and increasing export potential. During the meeting, the main directions of cooperation between companies of the two countries were outlined.
Ensuring energy stability and transitioning to “green” energy were noted as one of the important directions. Attention was also paid to the deep processing of strategically important mineral resources.
Promising areas between Tashkent and Tokyo were identified as mechanical engineering, industrial equipment manufacturing, and the development of a high-tech economy. The head of state emphasized Tashkent’s readiness to work with Tokyo not only as an investor but also as a strategic partner in creating the industry of the future.
In turn, Japanese business representatives expressed their intentions to expand their activities in Uzbekistan and discussed plans to implement joint projects. Source: One.uz
