
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Gen Nakagawa, the mayor of Nara city, during his official visit to Japan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During the conversation, issues of developing interregional relations and cultural-humanitarian cooperation were discussed. The establishment of brotherhood relations between the cities of Samarkand and Nara was particularly highlighted.
Historically, Samarkand was the center of the Great Silk Road, while Nara was its eastern gateway. These cities have played an important role in international trade and knowledge exchange for centuries.
In his speech, Nara city mayor Gen Nakagawa announced the decision to name one of the new parks in Nara after Samarkand. This holds special significance as a symbol of friendship and cooperation between the two peoples.
Additionally, the necessity of developing trade-economic and investment relations, as well as implementing joint projects in tourism, agriculture, transport, textiles, and urban development sectors was noted. During President Mirziyoyev’s visit to Japan, meetings were held in Tokyo with Emperor Naruhito of Japan, members of parliament, and the Minister of Economy.
The meetings discussed further strengthening strategic partnership relations and advancing joint projects.
