Concerns are growing that Uzbekistan's accession process to the World Trade Organization (WTO) is slowing down. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was announced by the President's WTO representative Azizbek Uronov. According to Uronov, the delay in the process is related to the content, timing, and nature of some questions raised by the working group.
At the same time, Uzbekistan supports the principles of fairness of the World Trade Organization and the values aimed at ensuring the stability of global trade. According to Uronov, the country views membership in the organization not as a privilege, but as an opportunity for full integration into the international trade system.
Currently, Uzbekistan is continuing negotiations with WTO member states regarding market access opportunities. So far, the republic has completed negotiations with 33 participants of the organization and signed relevant protocols with 30 countries.
Next week, Tashkent is expected to sign the relevant agreement with Moscow. According to information, assistance for Uzbekistan's WTO accession process has been provided since the mid-1990s.
Since the summer of this year, this process has been managed by a South Korean diplomat (source: one.uz).
