Leaders of the CIS countries met in Saint Petersburg

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated on December 22 in an informal meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) country leaders held at the State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The event was also attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. During this meeting, the cooperation efforts carried out this year were reviewed and priority tasks for the coming year were set.
In addition, discussions were held on pressing issues of regional and international importance. Special attention was paid to further developing economic relations within the CIS framework during the meeting.
In particular, the importance of increasing mutual trade, strengthening cooperation in the transport sector, promoting investment growth, and supporting joint cooperation projects was emphasized. Issues related to developing close partnerships in the fields of energy and digitalization were also discussed.
It was noted that expanding cooperation in culture, art, education, and science, developing long-term relations between regions, as well as supporting the creative and intellectual potential of youth are necessary. Continuing cultural and humanitarian exchanges among CIS countries and supporting innovative projects were also identified as priority tasks.
