Important measures aimed at improving the customs system have been defined by the new decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This decision serves to create favorable conditions for entrepreneurs, simplify foreign trade processes, and improve the business environment. According to the decree, starting from March 1, 2026, a number of concessions will come into effect regarding the payment of customs duties.
In particular, the possibility will be created to place goods under the "release for free circulation" customs regime based on an initial declaration before the goods arrive at the border. Additionally, customs fees will be reduced by 20 percent and the option to make payments in installments will be provided.
Entrepreneurs will be granted a 14-day period to avoid interest charges. This will greatly help in saving working capital.
From May 1, 2026, a new procedure will be introduced for the clearance of goods through periodic declarations. Henceforth, it will be possible to pay customs duties separately for each batch of goods.
This will help simplify logistics processes and facilitate financial settlements. Within the framework of the decree, if no risk factors are identified through the customs authorities' information system, certain cargo declarations will be automatically processed.
This will reduce human factors and accelerate customs clearance. Furthermore, payment refund and settlement procedures will be simplified for authorized economic operators ranked high and medium in the stability rating.
The cancellation of some permit requirements will also ease processes such as packaging, wrapping, and sorting. Overall, this decree is aimed at forming an open and convenient customs system for entrepreneurs.
It will help make the activities of foreign trade participants faster, more efficient, and more convenient. Source: one.uz
