Before the New Year holidays and winter break, Uzbekistan's national railway carrier has implemented additional measures to reduce passenger flow on the country's main tourist routes. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to Upl.uz, the press service of the "Temiryulekspress" company, part of "Uzbekistan Railways" JSC, announced that additional "Afrosiyob" trains connecting the capital Tashkent with the country's historical centers have been introduced.
In particular, the schedule on the Tashkent-Samarkand route has been expanded, with a total of 14 additional trains operating from December 26 to 31 and on January 4, 2026. Train number 775 departs from Samarkand at 10:55, while train number 776 returns from Tashkent at 13:56.
Additionally, on December 30 and 31, four special trains will run for passengers planning to travel from Tashkent to Bukhara. Train number 778 departs from Tashkent at 06:10, and train number 777 returns from Bukhara at 18:08.
Moreover, additional services have been organized to Khorezm region, with 12 extra trains operating on the Tashkent-Khiva route until January 12, 2026. To increase capacity on existing routes, four additional carriages will be added to trains from Tashkent to Khiva, Shovot, Qo‘ng‘irot, and Termez, as well as to the popular "Sharq" train service.
This will enable thousands of passengers to reach their families comfortably or travel around the country. The high-speed "Afrosiyob" trains operating in Uzbekistan are manufactured by the Spanish company Patentes Talgo S.L.
They travel at speeds of up to 250 km/h. Their main feature is a natural tilting system, which provides passengers with comfort when passing through curves on old railway tracks at higher speeds.
