Uzbekistan's external debt reached 75.4 billion dollars

According to the Central Bank report, at the end of the third quarter of 2023, Uzbekistan's external debt reached 75.4 billion dollars. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
From January to September, the country's obligations to foreign creditors increased by more than 11 billion dollars. This was reported by *Kursiv.uz*.
During the reporting period, the current account deficit amounted to 207.3 million dollars. This figure is significantly lower than last year's level of 3.1 billion dollars, reflecting positive changes in the economic situation.
The reduction in the deficit was due to a 32.8 percent increase in export volume, reaching 26.1 billion dollars. The rise in raw material prices and the expansion of services provided to non-residents were noted as important factors.
At the same time, import volume also increased by 15.4 percent, reaching 36.7 billion dollars. The growth in imports was mainly influenced by increased demand for machinery and equipment as well as food products.
The volume of direct foreign investments increased 1.7 times, reaching 2.9 billion dollars. Portfolio investments also grew 2.2 times, amounting to 3.8 billion dollars due to the issuance of international bonds.
These indicators indicate growing confidence of international investors in the country's economy.
