Hospitals in Uzbekistan will switch to a five-day workweek starting from 2026

Starting April 1, 2026, a significant change will be implemented in the operations of state medical institutions in Uzbekistan. Zamin.uz reported on this matter.
According to this important decision, hospitals and other medical centers will gradually transition to a five-day work week schedule. This new measure is considered a serious step aimed at further organizing processes within the sector and increasing employee efficiency.
Under currently effective legal documents, the main activities of state medical institutions will be organized over five days of the week. At the same time, to ensure continuity in providing medical care to the population, a special duty roster system will be established for weekends and holidays.
As a result, hospitals will operate as usual on official working days, while doctors and medical staff will work shifts based on a specially developed schedule during weekends. This approach guarantees that necessary medical care is delivered in a timely manner to the population, even in emergency situations.
Experts emphasize that the new system will help rationally distribute the workload among employees, organize working hours, and further improve the quality of services provided. It is particularly noted that opportunities for the population to seek medical care will not be subject to any restrictions.
The new order represents an important step in introducing modern management methods in the healthcare sector. It is expected that such reforms will further increase service efficiency and create convenience for the population in the future.
Confidence is expressed that these changes will yield beneficial results not only for medical staff but also for patients and society as a whole.
