IAEA supports the development of nuclear medicine in Uzbekistan

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has officially confirmed its readiness to assist Uzbekistan in developing the field of nuclear medicine and introducing modern medical technologies. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was announced in a letter sent by the agency to Uzbekistan's embassy in Vienna. The document noted that the IAEA is ready to actively participate in developing a strategic roadmap and national strategy in the healthcare sector.
The agency emphasized that Uzbekistan's systematic approach to nuclear medicine is important and being implemented in a timely manner. This project serves to strengthen the national healthcare system, meet the population's needs for oncological care, and improve the quality of medical diagnostics and treatment.
Cooperation will be carried out within the framework of the agency's technical programs and the joint action plan for 2025–2027. The main focus will be on providing expert recommendations and advice that comply with international safety standards and best practices.
Additionally, the IAEA has expressed great interest in expanding cooperation with Uzbekistan in areas such as radiotherapy, radiology, and radiopharmacy. This cooperation plays an important role in modernizing the country's medical infrastructure and introducing new therapeutic methods.
Specialists from the Republican Oncology and Radiology Center established in Tashkent closely collaborate with the agency and undergo professional training. This contributes to the further development of our country's medicine.
