Compensation for passengers will be introduced in case of train delays

A new regulation related to train operations is planned to be introduced in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to this regulation, if the train operating company is at fault for a delay beyond the scheduled time, passengers will be paid cash compensation. This initiative was proposed by the Competition Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan and is aimed at protecting passengers' rights.
The new system aims to improve service quality and strengthen trust in railway transport. According to the rules, the amount of compensation based on the delay duration is set as follows: for delays from 15 to 30 minutes, 15% of the ticket price; for delays from 31 to 60 minutes, 25%; for delays from 61 to 120 minutes, 50%; and for delays over 121 minutes, passengers will be refunded 100% of the ticket price.
Previously, this regulation applied only to the “Afrosiyob” high-speed trains. Now, this rule is planned to be applied to all local trains, including regular and high-speed routes.
This new regulation serves to improve the quality of train services, ensure passenger comfort, and further strengthen trust in railway transport. The introduction of the compensation system will make a significant contribution to protecting passengers' rights.
Additionally, ensuring trains run on time will increase the efficiency of the transport system. This will have a positive impact on the overall development of the transport sector.
