
On June 26, 2025, an amendment was made to the law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On detention during the investigation of criminal cases" (O‘RQ–1072) as reported by Uz24.uz.
According to the new amendment:
. A person taken into custody will undergo a mandatory medical examination before being placed in the investigative detention center.
. The medical examination will be conducted within 2 hours after the person taken into custody is brought to the investigative detention center.
. With the consent of the person taken into custody, their lawyer may also participate in the examination.
. The results of the medical examination will be formalized with an official medical certificate in a special form.
If during the examination any injuries, trauma, or wounds are found on the body of the person taken into custody, they will be recorded in accordance with the established procedure, the person taken into custody will be informed about this, and the prosecutor will be promptly notified.
