The Israeli army announced that it would temporarily halt military operations in certain areas of the Gaza Strip during specific hours each day. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This decision was made in the context of international pressure and the worsening hunger crisis in Gaza. According to the official statement, military actions will be suspended daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM in the areas of Al-Mawasi, Deir al-Balah, and Gaza City.
Additionally, the army emphasized that safe routes for humanitarian aid convoys will be continuously open every day from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM. It is planned to deliver food, medicine, and other essential aid through these routes.
According to the Egyptian "Al-Qahira News" television channel, convoys loaded with aid from Egypt have begun to move towards Gaza. Furthermore, Israel started delivering aid by air a few hours ago.
The United Nations stated in a statement on Thursday that humanitarian pauses would allow for an increase in the scale of aid, but noted that Israel was obstructing aid delivery by not providing sufficient alternative routes for the convoys. International concerns regarding the humanitarian crisis in Gaza are growing.
At the same time, it was announced on Friday that negotiations between Israel and the United States to cease fire with Hamas have been halted. They believe that Hamas is not interested in achieving peace.
In recent weeks, millions of people in the Gaza Strip have come to the brink of starvation. According to humanitarian organizations, food supplies have run out in Gaza, which has a population of nearly 2.2 million.
Since March, Israel has halted all supplies to the region, and since May, it has resumed aid with restrictions. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, at least 127 people, including 85 children, have died from starvation since the war began.
The Israeli government emphasizes that there is no hunger in Gaza and explains its decision to halt aid supplies as a measure to force the release of hostages held by Hamas. They stated that they allowed aid to enter in May but claimed that the UN is unable to distribute it adequately.
The UN has announced that it is continuing its operations as effectively as possible under Israeli restrictions. The war began on October 7, 2023.
At that time, Hamas fighters attacked southern Israel, killing over 1,200 civilians and taking 251 people hostage. Following this, military operations initiated by Israel have resulted in the near-total destruction of Gaza's infrastructure.
According to Gaza health officials, approximately 60,000 people have died since the war began, the majority of whom are considered to be civilians.
