ChatGPT conversations may be disclosed by court order
According to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, personal conversations conducted through artificial intelligence platforms are not protected like confidential conversations with a doctor or lawyer. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

Recently, many users have been using ChatGPT to seek psychological advice, discuss life problems, and ask for help with personal issues. However, such conversations may be disclosed at the request of government or judicial authorities.

As Altman pointed out, conversations with doctors, psychotherapists, and lawyers are considered confidential under specific laws, and no one can disclose them without a court order. However, such legal protections do not currently exist for artificial intelligence systems like ChatGPT.

He assessed this issue as a serious problem, emphasizing that people's interactions with artificial intelligence also need to have legal protection. Additionally, if a user sends their personal issues to ChatGPT and a court process begins in the future, OpenAI may be compelled to present these conversations by court order.

Altman expressed his discontent with this situation, stating that people should be able to approach their personal information with confidence when consulting artificial intelligence. In his opinion, messengers like WhatsApp or Signal are encrypted, and the platform owners cannot read the conversations within them.

However, OpenAI may use users' conversations to improve the model and detect unhealthy behaviors, which complicates the issue of personal data security further. According to OpenAI's policy, ChatGPT users' conversations are automatically deleted within 30 days unless required for security or legal reasons.

At the same time, there is a possibility that data may be retained during this period and used when necessary. As officials have pointed out, as artificial intelligence services become increasingly widespread in our lives, the issue of protecting personal data is particularly important.

For this reason, it is necessary to develop legal mechanisms on an international scale. The Zamin.uz editorial team continuously monitors the latest news in technology and security and will keep you informed.
