After the meeting, on August 1, they answered journalists' questions while sitting on a bench. During the conversation, the international situation, the war in Ukraine, economic changes in Europe, and issues of sovereignty were discussed.
Putin emphasized that the regime in Russia is based on the Constitution, and it is difficult to say the same regarding the situation in Ukraine. Negotiations are always considered important.
He also stated that the goals set for Russia in the summer of 2024 remain unchanged. Lukashenko noted that serious changes have occurred in the Belarusian economy against the backdrop of sanctions, and the world has not fully assessed this yet.
He also pointed out that Russia is being wrongly accused and that Belarus is not under pressure from anyone. While discussing the number of children in Ukraine, Putin highlighted that there are not many children there.
Lukashenko stated that complicating the situation is unproductive and that it is necessary to reach an agreement. He also called on Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to prepare and hold negotiations.
Putin mentioned that the situation within the framework of the special military operation is good, and the city of Chasov Yar has been captured. He spoke about how enemies previously wanted to strategically defeat Russia, but now they want to stop the attack.
Lukashenko emphasized that the process of deindustrialization has begun in Europe, and American goals are being pursued in this process. He stated that the unification of the European Union and Russia would be a great force.
Putin pointed out that there is a lack of sovereignty in the European Union and that this situation is leading to significant losses. Lukashenko mentioned that Western countries are putting pressure on Zelensky, who has received billions of funds but cannot show where the money has been spent.
Putin stated that corruption exists in all countries, but external parties cannot combat it, especially since corruption has been legalized in the European Union and the USA. He criticized Ukraine's anti-corruption agencies for not being subordinate to local authorities.
While discussing the road to Chasov Yar and Kramatorsk, Lukashenko stated that Ukraine should ask Russia to come, otherwise Russians will gradually occupy the territories. Putin said that these territories will be returned to Russia.
Lukashenko noted the necessity of reaching an agreement and that Russia continues its attacks. During the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of peace and dialogue, expressing their intention to stabilize the situation.
