The Thai prosecution has officially charged 23 individuals and companies in connection with the collapse of a 30-story office tower located in Bangkok. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Among those charged is the well-known construction oligarch Premchay Karnasuta, head of the Italian-Thai Development company, as well as China Railway, a major state corporation from China. During the investigation, they are suspected of violating construction standards and falsifying official documents.
Preliminary investigation results indicate that serious deficiencies during the design and construction phases led to the tower's collapse. Additionally, the quality of the construction materials used and the technological processes did not meet the required standards.
This incident has caused a significant uproar in the country. On March 28, 2025, the tower under construction for the National Audit Office in Bangkok collapsed due to a strong earthquake that occurred in Myanmar.
As a result of this disaster, 92 people lost their lives, 9 individuals were injured, and 4 workers are reported missing. The collapsed building was only 30% complete and was noted as the only structure that suffered the most damage from the earthquake.
This event is considered one of the largest and most tragic structural collapses in Thailand's history. Currently, the investigation is ongoing, and responsible individuals are being identified.
