A major scandal has erupted in the state governance system in Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the State Committee for National Security, the Deputy Minister of Water Management, Agriculture, and Processing Industry has been arrested on corruption charges. Additionally, the director of the veterinary service under the ministry has also been detained.
The identities of the individuals have not been disclosed due to investigation reasons. According to information, in July 2025, the government introduced quotas for livestock exports to stabilize meat prices.
However, some officials illegally exploited this system by allocating quotas to individuals not engaged in livestock farming. Later, intermediaries commercialized these quotas and resold them.
In the market, the quota for cattle was sold for approximately 300 dollars each, and for small cattle, for 5 thousand soms. As a result, more than 40,000 livestock were illegally transported to Uzbekistan through the Jalal-Abad region alone.
This caused a sharp increase in meat prices in the domestic market. Currently, the individuals detained in connection with the criminal case are being held in the SBU investigation isolator in Jalal-Abad.
The investigation is ongoing, and new information is expected to be announced soon. Experts emphasize that such incidents seriously harm economic security and negatively affect the daily lives of the population.
Therefore, taking strict measures against corruption is considered an urgent task.
