Although food deliveries to Gaza city have increased, it is not enough to stop widespread hunger, says the head of the World Food Programme. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Currently, about one hundred trucks provide aid daily, which is much less than the six hundred trucks that entered during the previous period of peace. Many people still do not have enough food.
While food prices have decreased in some areas, many cannot afford to buy it. Especially children, pregnant, and breastfeeding women are at the greatest risk.
The report notes that a quarter of the population in Gaza and surrounding areas is at risk of hunger. It warns that hunger could spread to other regions as well.
The head of the Food Programme, after visiting the area and seeing the difficult conditions of the population, emphasized the need to expand ways to deliver aid. Safe routes and rapid permits are crucial for delivering assistance.
Leaders are calling to increase the volume of aid and ensure people have a steady supply of food. The current level of assistance is not sufficient to stop widespread hunger.
