The European Union plans to launch a new electronic border system this autumn. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This system will automatically register foreign nationals entering and exiting Europe. The main goal is to enhance security and make travel more convenient.
The new system will operate in twenty-nine European countries. Among them are countries frequently visited by Uzbek tourists, such as France, Spain, Italy, and Greece.
Instead of stamping passports, the person's fingerprint and photo will be taken using special devices. The new procedure will be gradually implemented starting from October 12.
Initially, bus passengers at the Dover port will be registered, and later other travelers will also be included in the system. The registered data will be valid for three years.
According to experts, long queues may occur during the initial period. If necessary, the old procedure — manually stamping passports — will temporarily continue.
Starting from 2026, an additional procedure will be introduced. According to it, persons traveling visa-free will also be required to obtain an online permit in advance.
These innovations will make traveling in Europe safer and more efficient.
