
On September 6, 2025, an international energy forum titled "Investing in and Developing Cooperation in Afghanistan's Energy Sector" was held in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The event aimed to strengthen regional cooperation in the energy sector, modernize Afghanistan's energy infrastructure, and attract foreign investments. The forum was attended by representatives of the Afghan government, delegations from the energy ministries of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan, as well as officials from the United Nations, the European Union, other international organizations, and heads of diplomatic missions in Kabul.
During the event, a financial agreement was signed between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan for the construction of high-voltage power transmission lines and substations ranging from 220 to 500 kilovolts. This agreement signifies a new phase in energy relations between the two countries.
Within the framework of the project, strategically important electrical infrastructure facilities will be established in Afghanistan. Specifically, high-voltage power transmission networks and substations will be built to provide stable electricity supply to the central and southern regions of the country.
This project will be an important step in developing Afghanistan's energy system and strengthening regional cooperation.
