Catherine Sullivan, 65, who worked at a bank in Australia for 25 years, became unemployed after the introduction of an artificial intelligence system. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Although she actively participated in the implementation process of the new technology, she later lost her job because of this very system. Sullivan worked in the customer service department and helped test the software called Bumblebee AI.
However, within a short period, she and some colleagues were informed about layoffs under the pretext of transitioning to new technologies. According to the bank's press service, artificial intelligence was introduced to increase efficiency.
At the initial stage, Bumblebee AI faced difficulties processing a large number of requests, resulting in some employees being offered to return to work. Nevertheless, Catherine Sullivan declined this offer, stating that the new position would not provide her with long-term stability.
The bank management promised to provide financial and psychological support to those laid off. This situation raises important questions about the impact of artificial intelligence technologies on jobs.
