On Tuesday, a large protest took place in the city of Kabul. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At the protest, dozens of retired women gathered in front of the Pension Department controlled by the Taliban, demanding unpaid pensions. According to local sources, former employees of state institutions, including representatives of the parliament and the Ministry of Education, also participated in the demonstration.
The women are facing serious economic difficulties due to not receiving pension payments for several months. According to witnesses, security forces used force to disperse the protest, pushing the women and some participants were beaten.
One of the protesters said: “We only demanded our pensions, but this was met with violence. This is injustice.”
According to information, thousands of retirees in Afghanistan have been facing difficulties due to delays in pension payments since the Taliban returned to power in 2021.
This situation has caused long-term problems in their lives. Taliban officials have not yet issued an official response regarding this incident and have not responded to the demands of the protesters.
This protest in Kabul highlighted the urgent need to pay serious attention to social justice and pension issues. Experts and representatives of civil society emphasize that the government must take measures to improve the lives of pensioners.
