A unique event occurred in Denmark: the natural instinct of a beaver — building a dam — caused railway traffic to stop for a week. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This incident happened on the route between the cities of Aulum and Struer. According to reports, the beaver built a dam in the stream under the bridge, which changed the water flow and led to the weakening of the main foundation of the railway bridge.
As a result, train movement was put at risk and was suspended starting from September 17. The company responsible for the national railway network, Banedanmark, declared the beaver “responsible” for this inconvenience.
In their opinion, the dam built by the beaver eroded the underside of the bridge, weakening the foundation. Banedanmark emphasized that such cases are rare in nature.
Usually, beaver dams serve to maintain ecological balance, but this time the natural process posed a serious threat to the railway infrastructure. Special buses were arranged for passengers until railway traffic is restored.
Repair work is expected to continue until the evening of Sunday, September 21 at the earliest. Full restoration of train services is planned by that time.
Officials stress the need for caution in such situations. Conflicts between nature and infrastructure may occur in the future as well.
Therefore, while preserving the natural life of beavers, people must also strengthen measures to protect infrastructure.
