The situation in the Middle East is becoming more complicated. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Egypt is significantly increasing its military presence in the Sinai Peninsula. This is considered a violation of the peace agreement signed in 1979.
Netanyahu stated that Cairo has begun expanding airbases near the Gaza area, constructing underground facilities, and increasing troop numbers. He noted that such actions could negatively affect the balance in the region.
Egypt, however, denies these accusations, emphasizing that all actions are carried out within the framework of national security. Cairo's main concern is the possibility of Gaza residents entering Sinai en masse as refugees due to Israeli military operations.
Israel, on the other hand, accuses Egypt of blocking routes for refugees and restricting their ability to leave Gaza. According to Netanyahu, Egypt's actions complicate the situation in the region further and cast doubt on the peace agreement between the two countries.
According to reports, after direct negotiations between the two sides proved ineffective, Israel appealed to the United States, requesting Washington to pressure Egypt. Egypt, however, remains firm in its position, insisting that no violations have occurred.
Experts warn that if tensions continue, the unique peace agreement in the region could be seriously endangered. Therefore, it is important for the parties to reach a compromise to maintain peace and stability.
