A new, unexpected event has been recorded on the battlefield in Ukraine — President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky announced that two Chinese citizens fighting in the ranks of the Russian army have been captured. He made this statement via social media.
According to Zelensky, documents, bank cards, and personal information were found among the captured individuals. Currently, information about them is being verified, and diplomatic communication with Beijing regarding China's involvement in the war has begun.
Chinese citizens — fighting for Russia?
As President Zelensky pointed out, there is information that Chinese citizens are also fighting in other units of the Russian army. This indicates the possibility of expanding the involvement of external forces in the war.
“This means that Putin is not trying to end the war, but rather to escalate it to a new level,” Zelensky said.
What could be the impact on international relations?
This event shows that the Ukraine war is becoming more international in nature. If Chinese officials respond to the participation of their citizens in the fighting, it will be a significant test for Beijing's official position and its relations with the global community.
Zelensky instructed the Ukrainian foreign minister to urgently contact Beijing. Following this, responses are also expected from Washington, Brussels, and other international centers.
Who comes after China?
It should be noted that this is not the first such case. In January, Ukraine announced that it had also captured North Korean citizens fighting for Russia. One of them had false documents, while the other had no documents at all.
Zamin.uz opinion:
The appearance of foreign state citizens on the battlefield is not just statistics. It is an open manifestation of the conflict between global powers. China's response will be a signal not only for Ukraine but for the entire world.
Currently, the world is hoping for peace. However, the facts indicate that someone has chosen the path of escalating the war.
What are your thoughts on the topic? How do you think China might respond to this situation?
