Trump and tariffs: 'border attempt' turned out to be a lie
"America first!" said Trump this time... was it misunderstood?

In recent days, US President Donald Trump is again in the spotlight of the world with his tough steps in foreign trade policy. The news that "Trump will announce a 90-day pause on the customs duties he has imposed," which "exploded" the internet, turned out to be untrue.

CNBC reported, citing the White House press service: this news is baseless, that is — a lie!

Did Hassett say that? No, he was surprised too!

Earlier, it was reported that Kevin Hassett, head of the White House National Economic Council, supposedly stated that this 90-day period would apply to all countries except China. However, officials denied these statements — Hassett did not say anything about this.

Trade war: US and China

Bloomberg noted that China's response to these tariffs came very quickly — and this indicated that Beijing was ready for a "trade war." In response, China's foreign ministry also issued a stern statement:

"Washington's tariffs will be regarded as insults and threats," said Lin Jian.

Both sides have "launched an attack" with tariffs

It is worth recalling that Donald Trump announced on April 2 the imposition of customs duties on goods coming from 185 countries and territories around the world. In particular, the tariff rate on products coming from China was set at 34%.

In response to this step, China also announced that starting from April 10, it would impose the same rate — 34% tariff on US goods.

Trump did not stay silent on Twitter
In response to such a "counterstrike," Trump expressed his sharp opinion on Twitter:

"China imposing tariffs on the US is a big mistake!"

Through these events, it became clear once again that in geopolitical "games," it is very important to verify every piece of information through reliable sources. False news exacerbates various conflicts, and the public finds it difficult to understand the truth. Presidents can also fall victim to internet "fakes"...
