A major tragedy occurred at the Al-Khozini boarding school located in the city of Sidoarjo, Indonesia. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to local media reports, the educational institution's building suddenly collapsed, endangering the lives of many students. Official data states that as a result of the disaster, a 13-year-old student died.
Additionally, more than 90 people sustained injuries of varying degrees, with some in critical condition. Rescuers estimate that approximately 38 people may still be trapped under the rubble.
Investigations revealed that the school was originally a two-story building, but additional floors were later constructed in violation of legal requirements. The foundation could not withstand this excessive load, leading to the building's collapse.
Currently, emergency service personnel, military, and police are conducting rescue operations at the scene. Oxygen and drinking water are being supplied to those trapped under the debris through special pipes.
The local government described the incident as a massive tragedy and emphasized that non-compliance with construction regulations was the main cause of the disaster. Furthermore, following the event, discussions have intensified regarding the need to strengthen the durability of school buildings and construction oversight in the country.
This situation once again highlighted the importance of implementing new measures to ensure the safety of educational institutions.
