Is the Uzbekistan passport strong? 80th place in the world ranking
The updated results of the Visa Index international ranking, which compares the possibilities of passports and conditions for visa-free travel worldwide, have been announced. According to it, the Uzbekistan passport ranks 80th. This means that citizens can enter 62 countries without a visa.

Compared to neighboring countries...
In the new ranking, the Central Asian countries are positioned as follows:
  • Kazakhstan — 63rd place (visa-free to 44 countries)
  • Kyrgyzstan — 79th place (visa-free to 27 countries)
  • Tajikistan — 84th place (visa-free to 23 countries)
  • Turkmenistan — 92nd place (visa-free to 48 countries)

Uzbekistan is considered a leader among these countries in terms of visa-free travel opportunities.

The strongest and weakest passports
According to the Visa Index:

- Strongest passport — Singapore (visa-free to 195 countries)
- Weakest passport — Afghanistan (visa-free to only 10 countries)

How is the ranking calculated?
The position of a passport in the index is evaluated based on:

- how many countries its holders can travel to without a visa,
- how many require an electronic travel authorization (eTA),
- and how many require a visa.

Some countries that Uzbeks can visit without a visa:
✅ Antigua and Barbuda
✅ Armenia
✅ UAE
✅ Georgia
✅ Kazakhstan
✅ Russia
✅ Thailand
✅ Turkey
✅ Ukraine
✅ Oman
✅ Sri Lanka
✅ Azerbaijan
✅ Tajikistan
✅ Malaysia
✅ Mongolia
... and others (a total of 62 countries).

New freedoms added in 2024
In 2024, the following updates were implemented for Uzbekistan citizens:

- UAE, Thailand, Oman — granted the right to travel without a visa;
- An agreement was signed with China for visa-free travel for up to 30 days (expected to come into effect soon).

Uzbekistan passport opportunities are expanding
Holding a high position in the passport index is not only about travel but also an indicator of international trust. In recent years, the geography of visa-free travel has been expanding, and this trend is expected to continue.
