Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed his views on potential agreements with former US President Donald Trump in an interview with the publication "Kommersant." He emphasized that Moscow has never been against mutually beneficial agreements, but knows well not to fall into "trap" deals.
“If, as Trump said, normal agreements are indeed proposed — we are open to this. But these agreements should not be aimed at putting Russia into the next trap, they must be based on mutual interests,” Lavrov said.
Trump's policy — open to dialogue, but cautious
According to Lavrov, Donald Trump prioritizes national interests in foreign policy, and if these interests align with those of other countries, he shows readiness for dialogue.
At the same time, Lavrov reminded that some of the past "agreements" of the US were made solely for one-sided benefit. As a result of such "deals," Russia has repeatedly found itself isolated on the international stage and has indicated that it will now be cautious of such scenarios.
